Visit The Barker Mansion
The historic Barker Mansion lives as a monument of industry, charity, and turn-of-the-century life in Michigan City, highlighting the legacy of the Barker family through community events, interpretive tours and special programs for kids and adults.
In response to Covid-19, the mansion is closed until further notice. Please check back for tour times and ticket information when we reopen.
Large Groups and Field Trips
The Barker Mansion is great for group tours and field trips as well. Guided and self guided tours are given Tuesdays through Saturdays. Reservations are requested for groups of 15 or larger. We offer different topics upon request including art and architecture-themed tours, city walking tours, behind the scenes tours and more! To schedule a group tour, contact us.
Thanks to the generosity of the Friends of Barker Civic Center, Michigan City students tour the mansion free of charge. New school programs are currently being designed to engage your students. Our most popular programs include “Catherine’s Mansion Tour” and “The Mystery of the Missing Mutt”.
There is a ramp at the mansions back entrance to help those in need of assistance. There is a stair lift to the basement level however we do not have stair lifts to assist to our 2nd and 3rd floors.
Plan Your Day

Some do a little shopping at Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets, (1 block west), or the shops on Franklin Street, (1 block east).
