Visit The Barker Mansion
The historic Barker Mansion lives as a monument of industry, charity, and turn-of-the-century life in Michigan City, highlighting the legacy of the Barker family through community events, interpretive tours and special programs for kids and adults.
Self-Guided Tours Will Return
The Barker Mansion is currently closed to self-guided tours while we renovate. Please contact us for event hosting or functions.
Large Groups and Field Trips
The Barker Mansion is great for group tours and field trips as well. Reservations are requested for groups of 10 or larger. To schedule a group tour, contact us at (219) 873-1520.
The Barker Mansion has an accessibility ramp in the rear of the building so guests can access the first floor and first floor bathroom. The lower level is accessible via two chair lifts. We ask that those who require the ramp call ahead so that staff can meet guests at the side entrance on 7th Street: (219) 873-1520. Please contact the Mansion with any questions. We are happy to help!
Plan Your Day
Mansion tours take approximately 1.5 hours. Visitors often make a day of it, planning lunch before or after their tour at one of Michigan City’s many delicious restaurants. Some do a little shopping at Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets, (1 block west), or the shops on Franklin Street, (1 block east).
GPS will route you to exit at US-421 West. US 421 transitions to Franklin Street. After 3 miles you will turn left onto 6th Street, then the first left onto Washington Street. The Mansion will be on your right. Angled street parking is free in Michigan City.
