Large Groups and Field Trips

Join us at the revolutionary Haskell & Barker factory as we embark on the journey of a boxcar and explore the city where it all started.
Accessibility
The Barker Mansion has an accessibility ramp in the rear of the building so guests can access the first floor and first floor bathroom. The lower level is accessible via two chair lifts. We ask that those who require the ramp call ahead so that staff can meet guests at the side entrance on 7th Street: (219) 873-1520. Please contact the Mansion with any questions. Plan Your Day
Mansion tours take approximately 1.5 hours. Visitors often make a day of it, planning lunch before or after their tour at one of Michigan City’s many delicious restaurants. Some do a little shopping at Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets, (1 block west), or the shops on Franklin Street, (1 block east).
Visit Us
GPS will route you to exit at US-421 West. US 421 transitions to Franklin Street. After 3 miles you will turn left onto 6th Street, then the first left onto Washington Street. The Mansion will be on your right. Angled street parking is free in Michigan City.
