About this Event

Step back in time with History Hour at The Barker Mansion.

During the resort era of 1880-1930, the Monon Railroad brought thousands of vacationers to the shores of Cedar Lake. Discover how the community enriched lives around the Calumet Region and the amenities that Lassen’s Resort offered to visitors seeking summer fun.

Guest Speaker: Julie Zasada is the Executive Director of the Cedar Lake Historical Association, which presents the relevance of Cedar Lake history at The Museum at Lassen’s Resort and aboard Dewey Line resort history cruises. Her passion for historic preservation motivates her to pick up a hammer to renovate the 105-year-old historic hotel as often as she uses her pen to write grants to fund restoration projects, but her role as Cruise Director of the Dewey Line is her favorite opportunity to convey Cedar Lake’s magnificence with guests of all generations.
