Michigan City, IN, November 9, 2021 – Kim Olesker, Director of Operations for the Barker Mansion, announced that Michele Gustin has joined the Barker Mansion staff as full time Program & Events Coordinator.

“We are so pleased Michele has joined the Barker Mansion staff. Her skills and experience will bring great value to all aspects of programming and events at the Barker Mansion.”

Most recently, Michele was the Director of Business Development at the Mascot Hall of Fame, a children’s museum in Whiting, IN. Michele Gustin, Program & Events Coordinator

“I am so excited to be part of the new team reopening the restored Barker Mansion and developing exciting new adult and youth programming for the whole community, with a focus on the history of the Barker family and Michigan City, as well as being an inviting community center for all groups.”

The Barker Mansion is the historic 1905 home of entrepreneur, civic leader and philanthropist, John H. Barker and his daughter Catherine Barker Hickox. In July, Michigan City transferred the Barker Mansion to the Barker Welfare Foundation. The Mansion is completing a $2 million restoration.

Since the creation of the Barker Welfare Foundation in 1934 by Catherine Barker

Hickox, the foundation has donated over $10 million to 70 community, social service and arts nonprofits serving Michigan City and LaPorte County.
